How to launch safely remove USB hardware window

If This Icon is missing from the task bar and you need to launch the “safely remove hardware” window use this command 


In Windows XP run this command from Run box ( Start button and run Dialogue Box ) 

In Vista and Windows 7 click on start – go to All Programs – Accessories  – Run 


Command :

RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll

 

 

After you paste the above command in the run press OK, the safely remove window will appear 

 

 

The Command works for 

 

Windows XP

Windows Vista

Windows 7
