Google Chrome can be downloaded from the following location

1. The MSI Package Can be downloaded from the following Link

http://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/business/browser/

2. The Policy templates can be downloaded from

http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=187945
http://dl.google.com/dl/edgedl/chrome/policy/policy_templates.zip

 

–          To import the Chrome Group Policy Template, navigate to Computer Configuration – Policies – Administrative Templates

–          Right Click the Administrative Templates and select “Add/Remove Templates…”

–          Add the Policy Template and click Close

–          Under Administrative Templates a new folder tree will be added by the name “ Classic Administrative Template (ADM) “

–          Install the MSI package Via Group Policy, Go to Group Policy Editor – Computer Configuration – Policies – Software Settings

–          Under Software Settings Right Click on Software installation – New – Packages

–          The Chrome MSI Package should be places on a shared folder, Browse to the shared folder and add the package. Select Assigned or Advanced and click on OK

–          After deploying the MSI package this is the very first Screen you would see after launching Chrome

In order to Set the Home Page via Group Policy Follow the following steps  

Group Policy Editor – Computer Configuration – Policies – Administrative Templates – Classic Administrative Templates ( ADM ) – Google – Google Chrome – Home page

Configure the home page URL                 –              Enable & set the web link

Eg: http://www.msn.com ( Web link is only an example )

Use New Tab Page as homepage              –              Disable

Group Policy Editor – Computer Configuration – Policies  – Administrative Templates – Classic Administrative Templates ( ADM) – Google – Google Chrome – Startup Pages

Action on startup                   –        Enable & select “Open a List of URLs”

URLs to open on startup      –         Enable & Click the Show Button and then add the site

Group Policy Editor – Computer Configuration – Policies  – Administrative Templates – Classic Administrative Templates ( ADM ) – Google – Google Chrome (Recommended)

 Show Home button on toolbar          –              Enabled

Computer Configuration – Policies  – Administrative Templates – Classic Administrative Templates ( ADM) – Google – Google Chrome (Recommended) – Home page 


Configure the home page URL                         –             
Enable & set the web link

Use New Tab page as homepage                     –              Disable

Group Policy Editor – Computer Configuration – Policies  – Administrative Templates – Classic Administrative Templates ( ADM ) – Google – Google Chrome (Recommended) – Startup Pages

Action on startup                     –              Enable & select “Open a List of URLs”

Once the above mentioned group policy settings are in place run gpupdate /force on the client machine and restart the machine

After the restart when you open Chrome it should directly open whatever web site you have mentioned in the group policy

When you click on the new tab, a blank tab should open with all the history pages listed ( as shown below ) and when you click the home button the published web link should open in the new tab

If in case for some reason the settings don’t take effect as expected open Chrome://policy in the chrome browser and compare the result with the below mentioned snap shot. The result on your client machine should match the results in the snap shot
